SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPISTS

CAROLINE BLACKBURN BSc(Hons), Dip.FTSP
Caroline who is Founder and Director of BodyFocus (UK) Ltd, is an ex-International 400m Hurdler and Bobsleigher. As a Sports Therapist, Caroline achieved a BSc (Hons) in Sports Studies, and then continued to further studies to achieve a Diploma in Sports Injury and Rehabilitation.  During this time, Caroline also owned a Personal Training Company.  Caroline has previously worked with the Barbados Football Team, GB Junior Pentathlon Team, and Rosslyn Rugby Team. Caroline currently works with members of the Wasps and England Rugby Teams, and the British Olympic Judo Team.

YOSHIIKO BEER, BSc, Dip.LSSM
Yoshiko is a Black Belt in Aikido (Japanese martial Arts).  As a qualified Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist from the London School of Massage (LSSM), Yoshiko continued her studies in Core Stability and Functional rehabilitation.  Since 1999 she has been a qualified Physiotherapist, having graduated from the Tohoku Gakuin University, Sendai, Japan. After qualifying, she worked in the Acute Brain Surgery Hospital, the Orthopaedic Department in the General Hospital, and the Day Care for the Elderly Hospital. Yoshiko currently works with snowboarders, martial arts athletes, and marathon runners.

DELWYN HOUSE Dip.SR, Dip.Mass
Delwyn is a qualified Sports, Deep Tissue and Therapeutic Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer.  She started studying in 1997 and has studied in both the UK and her home country of New Zealand.  In New Zealand she worked as a Tutor in the Sport and Recreation industry and ran her own Sports and Therapeutic Massage business.  Through her business and being a registered Massage Therapist for the NZ Academy of Sport, she has worked with a variety of sports including members of the New Zealand All Blacks Rugby Team, the NZ Tall Blacks Basketball Team and numerous other national and international athletes, local rugby teams, Volleyball, Triathlon, Ironman, Cycling and Marathon events.  She is currently also working with the London New Zealand Rugby teams (LNZRFU) doing their pre-season and maintenance fitness training, Strapping, Massage, Side-line First Aid and Injury Management. She is available for mobile and event work.

KATE REHILL BSc
As well as being a Sports Massage Therapist and an affiliated member of the Sports Massage Association, Kate has a BSc in Sports Therapy from London Metropolitan University.  Kate’s achievement was working with the Arsenal Ladies Football Team that won the double in 2003/2004 season and semi final in the UEFA cup. Kate has previously worked with Ealing Rugby Football Club, and the Saracens Elite Academy Squad. She currently works full time with the London Wasps Rugby Club and is Head Sports Massage Therapist for the Guinness Premiership, Heineken.

CARRIE GUEST- BSc(Hons), Dip. MSMA
Is a level 4 member of the Sports Massage Association. Carrie graduated with a BSc (Honours) degree in Sport Science and Biology from Staffordshire University in 2002. After taking time out to travel around the world, she then studied for her diploma in Sports Massage at the University of Wales in Cardiff.  She has massaged a variety of different people across a range of sports.  Previously, she has worked with rugby players including Lydney Rugby Club, who are in the National Division Three South League.  Carrie also attended and applied Sports Massage at the Bristol ½ Marathon in 2005 and worked with members of the Welsh Paralympics Team in Cardiff. Carrie is currently involved in providing Sports Massage to various clients from marathon runners, tennis players and triathletes to general exercise participants.

TARA WATTERS BSc(Hons)  MA
Tara graduated with a Masters Degree in Health, Human Performance and Sports Training, from the University of New Orleans. Tara also has a degree in Sports Rehabilitation and Sports Science, where she qualified at St Mary’s University College, London.  As well as being a Sports Therapist, Tara has a Golf handicap of =1 since 2006, and currently competes for England and Middlesex County 1st Team, where she is a County Golf Champion. Tara specialises in working mainly with golfers, runners and other injury related sports.

FEMI AIYENURO BSc. Dip.LSSM
With a BSc Degree in Sports Therapy, Femi is also a qualified Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist from the London School of Massage (LSSM), Femi currently assists in running a Sports Injury Clinic at the London Metropolitan University.  He specialises in working with rowers and marathon runners.

NICHOLAS DENNING. BSc(Hons) ,Raw.Dip,
As well as a BSc(Hons) in Sport and Exercise Sciences and an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Sports Therapy,  Nicholas is qualified as a level 4 Sports Massage Therapist  with the Sports Massage Association.  Nicholas is not only a member of the England and Wales Cricket Board and a level cricket coach, but he also currently plays cricket at club and minor county level with Finchampstead CC and Berkshire CC.  Nicholas has previously worked with the Aldershot and Chertsey Town Football Clubs, and currently works with the theatre cast of the Starlight Express.

CATHERINE DEIGNAN BSc(Hons), Dip..MSMA
Catherine studied a BSc in Sport and Physical Education, and continued further qualification with a Diploma in Sports Therapy at the Sports Performance Services in Cardiff.  Catherine then worked at the National Performance Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff, and the Thames Valley Athletic Performance Centre in Eton. She has previously worked with the Welsh Rugby Team, the UWIC Stealers Basketball Team and the Italian Rugby Team. She currently works with the FINA Welsh Netball Team. Catherine has represented Spelthorne Borough at Netball and the Surrey County Championships for Cross Country, and is currently a member of the Spelthorne Basketball Team.  Catherine has gained an extensive range of experience and specialises in injuries from sporting professionals to general lifestyle.

 

SPORTS TRAINERS

CRAIG BUCKHAM, BSc, MPhil, Biomechanics and Kinesiology
Craig graduated with a BSc in Sports Science with Honours from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, and then continued to do an MPhil in Applied Sciences, where he investigated the effects of dynamic forceful actions on the human spine. Craig was awarded a sports scholarship at Anglia Ruskin, where he played Cricket for Cambridge University Centre of Excellence for 4 years. He currently plays cricket for Cambridgeshire County Cricket Club.  Craig’s main ideas for working at Body Focus are to promote correct motion to prevent injury and enhance performance using Motion Analysis, Muscle Analysis (using EMG) and sports specific training.  All sports techniques can be evaluated, and he plans to work in partnership with all clients to get the best results for their specific problem.

MICHAEL FREYER, BSc(Hons), Strength Conditioning Coach, Boxing Courses, Core/Strength Classes
Michael qualified with a BSc(Hons) and continued further training as a Strength Conditioning Coach.  Michael trains elite and recreational athletes for both performance and rehabilitation.  Michael had previously trained ‘The Team Rusedski” coaching team, and Pat Cash’s young tennis players at the Vanderbilt, Shepherd Bush.  Michael currently works with players from the Bath Rugby, Chelsea FC, Saracens, Harlequins, London Irish, London Welsh, England Sevens, France Rugby, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City FC, Brighton FC and GB Athletics. The training involves plyometrics, core conditioning (dynamic and static), Olympic lifts, other weight training techniques and Gymstick, in which he is one of two people who are qualified master trainers for Gymstick in the country.

ANDRE FERNANDEZ
Andre is an international 400metre runner and long jumper for Great Britain. He currently works as a Sports/Athletic Trainer at Willesden Sports Centre and is a qualified UK Athletics level 3 coach.

MELANIE GRACE MURPHY – EMOTIONAL THERAPIST
Melanie Grace is one of the founding Therapists of the Inner Journey Clinic on Harley Street. As a senior Accredited Journey Therapist and an experienced Emotional Therapist, she works with negative, stressful, toxic thinking and behaviours that get in the way of peace of mind, happiness and success. Melanie has worked for Brandon Bays (creator of "The Journey") and uses NLP, life coaching and "The Work" by Byron Katie in her therapy.  Melanie runs meditation evenings, and is a mentor for new therapists.  Melanie continues to travel around the world to study both cutting edge and ancient therapeutic methods. 

RUTH WOOD – NUTRITIONIST
Ruth Wood is a clinical Nutritionist who specialises in using diet and nutritional supplements to help individual health and lifestyle needs. Ruth trained as a Nutritionist at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) and as well as being a Nutrition Consultant, she is a tutor for ION’s Nutritional Consultant Diploma Course and also holds seminars on Nutrition topics. Ruth’s experience includes working in various sectors including The Priory Hospital, the BBC, the banking industry and clinics involved in the treatment of addiction. She advices on Sports Nutrition, stress, digestive health, addiction, allergies, nutrition for babies and children, hormonal balance and many other health concerns.
